Once again, Sporting’s special teams made a huge impact on the match. Former Arlington Aviator Andrew Escelante and Henrickson locked down the penalty kill by killing 3 of 4 Oly Town Power plays.
Goalkeeper, Wesly Da Silva got the start in net for sporting and made 12 saves. His backline was anchored by a stout defensive effort, that continued to stifle their opponent’s offense.
Oly Town’s Willie Spurr contributed the majority of the Artesian’s goals with four of his own, while teammate Kyle Wiese assisted the team with a goal of his own.
“2-0 is a great feeling, especially with one win coming against the former undefeated champs,” said Hendrickson. “ We have a tough couple of games ahead of us with the PASL champs, the Olympic Force here next week, and Bellingham the following, who is always a tough opponent. We just want to keep this streak going and continue to play well.”
